The CW has released the first official images from the third episode of Supergirl‘s second season, and in them we not only get an even better look at Lynda Carter’s (Wonder Woman) President of the United States, but also the first shots of Detective Maggie Sawyer. A key Superman supporting character in the comics, she would later become romantically involved with Batwoman.
There’s nothing to say that we’ll see that superhero show up in Supergirl at any point, especially as many fans believe/hope that we’ll see her instead strike up a relationship with Alex Danvers. That would line up with previous comments from producers, that one of the show’s characters is going to end up coming out during season 2.

An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO are assigned to protect the President and bring in the responsible party. Alex (Chyler Leigh) teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case while Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), who she fears may be the alien behind the assault. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Jessica Queller and Derek Simon.
With Superman taking on such a significant role in the season two premiere, Mon-El ended up not getting much of the spotlight, so finally getting to see him in action here should be a lot of fun.
Of course, the thing most Supergirl fans are looking forward to is Carter making an appearance as the President. A legend in the world of superhero TV shows, the one time Wonder Woman will no doubt make quite the impact here when she meets the Girl of Steel. Following those record breaking ratings for the show’s first episode on The CW, another notable guest star like this for Supergirl should ensure that the series continues to soar for some time to come.
