Expect First Teaser For Transformers: The Last Knight Late 2016, John Turturro Returns

Michael Bay has confirmed that the first teaser for Transformers: The Last Knight will storm online before the year is out.

After lensing across England and parts of the Scottish highlands, Michael Bay has confirmed via Facebook Live that Transformers: The Last Knight is now headed to South Africa where series veteran John Turturro will join the production.

Turturro, who played the rather eccentric Agent Seymour Simmons across Transformers 1 through 3 (see the clip above), is one of a number of old faces that will be appearing in The Last Knight come 2017, after Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel climbed aboard some months ago. Indeed, news of Turturro returning to the fray also heralds a Big Lebowski reunion, after it was previously confirmed that John Goodman will be back to voice Hound, the hulking Autobot and healer.

Circling back to that Facebook Live post from Bay, it’s taken on the final day of filming in the UK, showcasing scores of extras in the backdrop dressed in medieval armor. This aligns with previous reports that Transformers: The Last Knight will incorporate an arc involving Merlin and King Arthur, after it was revealed that Liam Garrigan would be taking up arms as the legendary British leader. How does he filter in to the war between Autobots and Decepticons? It’s unclear at this moment, but it seems Optimus Prime’s search for a powerful ancient artefact will trigger those historic sequences.

Transformers: The Last Knight will open on June 23, 2017 and heralds the beginning of a new chapter for Paramount’s CG-laden juggernaut, what with a rumored Bumblebee spinoff on course for 2018 and a bona fide sequel the year after. Joining Turturro, Goodman, Gibson and Duhamel for the blockbuster sequel are Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Stanley Tucci, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock, and Isabela Moner.
