The CW has released a new clip from Monday’s episode of Supergirl, and in it we get to meet Lucas “Snapper” Carr (Ian Gomez) for the very first time. So too does Kara Danvers, though it appears as if the Girl of Steel’s boss isn’t exactly all that taken with CatCo’s latest trainee reporter.

Kara’s new job in the series will explain why Cat Grant is going to take on a reduced role in Supergirl, though the reality is that Calista Flockhart didn’t want to make the move to Vancouver (because she wouldn’t be as close to her family) now that The CW has picked up the show from CBS. It was previously shot in Los Angeles, though budget cuts obviously changed that.

For more on what to expect from this episode of Supergirl – titled “The Last Children of Krypton” – here’s the official synopsis:

CADMUS attacks National City with a kryptonite powered villain who ends up seriously hurting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin) blames Hank (David Harewood) because the kryptonite was stolen from the DEO. Meanwhile, Kara’s first day at her new job doesn’t go as planned after she meets her new boss, Snapper Carr (guest star Ian Gomez). Glen Winter directed the episode written by Robert Rovner & Caitlin Parrish.

Kara following in the footsteps of her cousin by becoming a reporter should change the dynamic of the series in a big way and promises to be a lot more exciting than her being Cat’s PA. Her relationship with Cat was definitely interesting to follow though, so hopefully Supergirl can develop an equally compelling dynamic between the hero and Snapper.
