Night Bass frontrunner AC Slater has teamed up with previous collaborator Taiki Nulight on a new bass heavy EP dubbed My Peoples. Following up on 2013’s “Doing It,” the pair deliver two choice dancefloor cuts on their new joint release that serve up a healthy dose of twisted club vibes.
Up first is title track “My Peoples,” a punishing bass house song that opens with dark atmosphere and light percussive sounds as haunted vocal samples fill the speakers. Powerful bass wobbles suddenly break the quiet intro, as garage influenced house beats craft an addicting rhythm. AC Slater and Taiki Nulight work their bass heavy magic throughout the track, delivering simple but irresistible drops dominated by grimey synths.
“Psycho” keeps the dark vibes going with another bass heavy house track, kicking off with a solid drum loop before jazzy chord stacks take over. The two producers deliver some G-house influenced bass riffs over unstoppable club beats, as pitch sliding synths bubble around the punchy drum hits.
AC Slater and Taiki Nulight deliver a worthy collaborative EP on My Peoples, striking a balance between the UK garage influence and the bombastic productions of American EDM bangers. While it’s comprised of a mere two songs, both “Psycho” and the title track rank as memorable efforts with more than enough energy for the dancefloors.
