Marvel And FX Reveal Legion’s Premiere Date In Trippy New Promo

We've known for a while now that Legion would premiere on FX in early 2017, but the promo above reveals that we can expect the Marvel series to hit the channel in February. There's lots of new footage from the show in the video as well, and it's clear that this is probably going to be unlike any other Marvel Comics drama currently available on TV or online streaming services.

Legion introduces the story of David Haller, who since he was a teenager, has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Created by Fargo‘s Noah Hawley (which should be more than enough to have you counting down the days until the premiere), Legion stars Dan Stevens in the title role and has an impressive ensemble cast made up of names like Rachel Keller (Fargo), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Jean Smart (Fargo). Excited yet?

The project is pretty unique, too, especially as Marvel and Fox have teamed up to make it a reality. However, it won’t be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it does look set to be loosely connected to the X-Men Universe. Based on what we’ve heard about Legion, it’s probably going to be best to accept it as its own thing rather than hunting for connections which aren’t there.

Legion looks like a lot of fun, to be sure, and we’ll hopefully see much more from the Marvel series over the coming months as it gears up for its debut in February.
