Despite the fact that last week’s Nintendo Switch unveiling showed several different titles being played in various scenarios, the running time of the hybrid console’s reveal trailer was nowhere near long or detailed enough to put to rest fears that its hardware may not be up to scratch with the likes of Microsoft or Sony’s devices.
Of course, raw power isn’t everything, but we can’t imagine we’re alone in wanting to see how the Switch’s most anticipated title – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – performs on the upcoming Wii U successor. Sadly, it looks as if Nintendo isn’t ready for that just yet, but it has let loose 40 minutes of brand new gameplay for the follow-up to 2011’s Skyward Sword.
You can see the whole thing for yourselves above, which is being played by folks from Japanese show Game Center DX, but if you’ve been keeping up to date on all things Zelda, there’s probably nothing here that you haven’t already seen. Lush forests, picturesque sunsets, rock climbing and a spot of fishing are the sorts of things you’ll be experiencing alongside Link come next year, and it all looks rather beautiful.
With that said, it wouldn’t hurt Nintendo to spice things up a bit by showing some other settings other than countryside. We know the various Zelda staples like dungeons will be present in Breath of the Wild, so hopefully we’ll get a teaser for those sooner rather than later.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches for Wii U and Nintendo Switch in March 2017.
