Pegged for release on December 16, it marks a new chapter in Disney’s saga that circles back to the period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. With any luck, the Mouse House will seize the opportunity in two months’ time and lift the lid on the first official teaser for Episode VIII, but until that time, We Got This Covered has a very special fan-made trailer to share with you. Feast your eyes on it up above, and be sure to share your initial impressions in the comments section.

Said to feature a marked tonal shift from The Force Awakens – think how Empire Strikes Back differed from A New Hope – production on Star Wars: Episode VIII wrapped some months ago, just don’t be expecting any clues regarding Rey’s parentage until late next year. That secrecy extends to much of the story underpinning Rian Johnson’s sequel, though it’s surely only a matter of time before Disney fire up the marketing machine to stoke excitement.

What we do know for sure is that Daisy Ridley will headline a cast that comprises Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, along with newcomers Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will officially touch down in theaters on December 15, 2017. First up is the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story though and with a bit of luck, we’ll soon be feasting our eyes on the first official teaser for Rian Johnson’s mainline sequel.

Until that time, tell us, what did you make of the fan-made trailer?
