With acting, writing and producing credits already to his name, Jamie Foxx is poised to add another feather to his proverbial cap with All-Star Weekend, an upcoming dramedy that’ll stand as his directorial debut.

Deadline has the scoop, confirming that Foxx will star in the feature alongside Eva Longoria, Jeremy Piven and Jessica Szohr, and the cameras are already rolling in California. The outlet goes on to reveal that Foxx, having penned the screenplay himself, will play one of two tow-truck drivers in All-Star Weekend – Malik (Foxx) and Danny (Piven), to be specific – who think they’ve struck gold upon landing a pair of tickets to the NBA All-Star Game, much to the dismay of Danny’s better half, Abby (Szohr).

As life-long basketball aficionados, it’s a dream come true for Malik and Danny, but en route to the big match, they cross paths with Asia (Longoria), a beautiful mystery wrapped in an enigma who appears to be masking an ulterior motive. Comedic hoodwinks and shenanigans ensue, and cameos are expected from Snoop Dogg, The Game, DJ Khaled and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Chuck Pacheco, Deon Taylor and Butch Kaplan are among the producers attached.

All-Star Weekend is officially in production as of today, October 27. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops, though all signs point to a theatrical release late next year. On the acting side of things, Foxx has lined up a really rather exciting 2017, with roles in Baby Driver, Sleepless and the star-studded Robin Hood: Origins all in the pipeline.
