Another day, another flurry of casting announcements coming out of The Defenders. Marvel’s ensemble series may already be in active production, with early set photos teasing a clash between Jessica Jones and Misty Knight, but the studio has been gradually filling out the supporting cast.
Case in point: Rosario Dawson, Scott Glenn, and Rachael Taylor are the latest familiar faces confirmed to star, and come 2017, they’ll be reprising their respective roles as Claire Temple – a character who has very much become the lynchpin of Marvel’s small-screen universe – Stick, and Trish ‘Hellcat’ Walker.
They join fellow newcomers Elden Henson (Foggy), Eka Darville (Malcolm), and Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), while earlier this week Marvel announced both Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight) have booked their place in The Defenders as well.
Old friendships die hard, it seems. Here’s the latest casting update from the show’s Twitter feed.

Now that Marvel and Netflix have assembled much, if not all of the allies who will be appearing in The Defenders, fans will certainly begin to wonder when they’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the ensemble series in motion. With both Iron Fist (March 17) and The Punisher (TBA) earmarked for a 2017 premiere, common logic would dictate that Marvel will debut said teaser alongside one of those series – the former, in all likelihood – though we’ll keep you posted one way or the other.
Also starring Sigourney Weaver as the chief antagonist, expect all eight episodes of The Defenders to premiere in 2017.
