The Girl Of Steel Is Caught In The “Crossfire” In New Supergirl Promo Images

The CW has released the first batch of images from the upcoming sixth episode of Supergirl's second season, and they offer up an intriguing look at the titular hero heading into battle against a gang armed with some pretty formidable alien technology. However, as exciting as that may be, it's possibly not the biggest talking point included here.

The CW has released the first batch of images from the upcoming fifth episode of Supergirl‘s second season, and they offer up an intriguing look at the titular hero heading into battle against a gang armed with some pretty formidable alien technology. However, as exciting as that may be, it’s possibly not the biggest talking point included here.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that one of Supergirl‘s characters will explore a same sex relationship. Speculation about who that will be has been running rampant ever since, but the prevailing opinion is that it will end up being Alex Danvers. The fact that openly gay character Detective Maggie Sawyer has now been introduced (and can be seen in the gallery above) has added some weight to the theory that she’ll grow close with Alex, and the two characters can be seen interacting in the photos we have here.

That’s obviously not confirmation that they’ll end up embarking on a romantic relationship, but Alex is definitely looking like the most likely possibility right now. For more on what to expect from this episode of Supergirl – titled “Crossfire” – here’s the official synopsis:

Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must beat a ruthless new gang who has been armed with dangerous new alien technology. When Cadmus sends a video to the DEO, the team realizes Cadmus is the one staffing the criminals for a secret mission. Meanwhile, Kara (Melissa Benoist) gets Mon-El (Chris Wood) a job as an intern at CatCo, James makes an important decision and Lena (Katie McGrath) invites Kara to attend one her fundraisers. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwy.
