Believe it or not, it’s been a long ten years since Fergie released her debut solo album, The Dutchess. Headlined by hit singles like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Glamorous,” The Dutchess’ popularity and level of quality had fans yearning for a follow-up, and it looks like the desperation may finally be coming to an end now.
With a cryptic hype video put up on Instagram, Fergie teased a November 11th date in a clip filled with screenshots of Tweets asking for some new tunes. The album, slated to be called Double Dutchess, has been in the works for quite a while: she’s been detailing the creative process for it since 2013, but it wasn’t until the release of her July single, “M.I.L.F. $” that a new record seemed even closer to reality. Besides solo work, Black Eyed Peas fans got a nice surprise when Fergie reunited with the group for a revamped version of “Where Is The Love” a few months back.
Her track, “M.I.L.F. $,” showed a different and a fresh side of Fergie, and the empowering female anthem (which stands for “Moms I’d Like To Follow”) shot the anticipation for a new album up to an all-time high. November 11th is a Friday, which means it’s a release day, so it’s definitely likely that something new will come out. Though Fergie‘s got an incredibly loyal fanbase, she’s been removed from the limelight for too long to really benefit from a surprise album, but then again, anything can happen – it’ll be worth it to keep eyes open on Friday to see what really ends up going down.
