Released yesterday, Update 1.1. appears to be causing owners of the game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC to experience sporadic crashes during play, with users on Reddit (via GameSpot) reporting that the problem is affecting them regardless of whether they have mods installed or not.

If you’ve already installed the patch, which itself was deployed in order to combat audio and performance issues, and are affected, you can try uninstalling the update until Bethesda comes up with a more permanent solution.

The publisher has yet to provide an official statement in regards to the crashes, but is apparently “aware of the issue,” according to its official Twitter page.

We’ll keep an eye out for any official word from Bethesda, but in the meantime, it looks like you’ll have to sit tight and hope for a quick resolution.

Originally released in 2011 as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Skyrim: Special Edition boasts superior textures, visual fidelity and performance over the former. In his review for We Got This Covered, Dylan Chaundy deemed it a “terrific entry point for those who were unlucky enough to miss out on one of the last decade’s best open-world RPGs.”
