Surprisingly, we actually get a fair amount of new footage from the Star Wars spinoff here, including a great shot of Darth Vader at the end. For the most part, the new preview focuses on Felicity Jones’ rebel leader Jyn Erso, and understandably so, but there’s also tons of explosions, dialogue which we haven’t heard before and the promise of a truly epic adventure come December.

It’s safe to say then that we’re very excited for what Disney and Edwards have in store for us, but we still can’t help but to feel a bit hesitant due to all the controversy that surrounded the film’s reshoots. The studio caught a lot of negative press for their apparent meddling and some pretty ugly rumors have been surfacing over the last few months. We really do hope that they’re unfounded, as Rogue One does appear to be a refreshing new entry into the Star Wars universe, but until we see it for ourselves, we’ll have to approach this one with a sense of cautious optimism.

In addition to Jones, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story also features Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn as Director Krennic. It’ll open in theatres on December 16th.
