Transformers: The Last Knight Revs Up Its Marketing Machine

The first promotional footage of the upcoming sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight, will arrive in IMAX theatres attached to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them next week, and will then be released online. Production is underway on the film, so it is not yet clear what exactly will fill the two minute-long teaser, but the fact that it will be in IMAX means it is likely to be quite spectacular.

The first promotional footage of the upcoming sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight, will arrive in IMAX theatres attached to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them next week, and will then be released online. Production is underway on the film, so it is not yet clear what exactly will fill the two minute-long teaser, but the fact that it will be in IMAX means it’s likely to be quite spectacular.

The fifth film in the Transformers series is directed by Michael Bay, with a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan, and sees Mark Wahlberg return as the lead. He’s joined by Stanley Tucci, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Anthony Hopkins, and Mitch Pileggi. The storyline will apparently follow directly on from the events of the previous movie, 2014’s Transformers: Age Of Extinction, but aside from that, plot details are basically non-existent at this point.

The franchise as a whole is about to get a huge shot in the arm with its first spinoff title, too – in the form of Bumblebee. This series off-shoot will focus on the beloved Autobot, though it’s not clear where this tale will fit into the overall chronology.

We know that it’s written by Christina Hodson though, and is a result of the writer’s room initiative set up for the purpose of expanding the Transformers universe in a cohesive and coherent way. There is much excitement about that project, which is scheduled for release on June 8th, 2018 – while Transformers: The Last Knight will pull into cinemas on June 23rd, 2017.
