Clint Mansell Will Score Ghost In The Shell

It's been a very big week for all things Ghost in the Shell, and the hype train doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon. After an impressive first trailer, which gave us a ton of new information on the film, and a look at the opening scene which pays homage to the original, fans have certainly had a lot to chew over. The general opinion the adaptation seem to be pretty good so far, and with this latest bit of news, it'll no doubt get even better.

It’s been a very big week for all things Ghost in the Shell, and the hype train doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon. After an impressive first trailer, which gave us a ton of new information on the film, and a look at the opening scene which pays homage to the original, fans have certainly had a lot to chew over. The general opinion of the adaptation seem to be pretty good so far, and with this latest bit of news, it’ll no doubt get even better.

That’s because we’re learning today that Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain composer Clint Mansell will be scoring the blockbuster for Paramount. The news was announced by director Rupert Sanders at a fan event in Tokyo this past weekend and will no doubt make many people very happy. After all, Mansell is one of the best composers in Hollywood and has provided some truly haunting and beautiful scores over the years.

With his often foreboding and sinister sounds, Mansell has elevated countless films throughout his career and we have no doubt that he’ll do the same for Ghost in the Shell. Given the material, he really does seem like a perfect fit and with the music set to play an important role in the adaptation, we’re happy that Paramount has brought in a real pro for the job.

Ghost in the Shell will arrive in theatres on March 31st, 2017, and along with Scarlett Johansson in the lead role, it stars Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbæk, Rila Fukushima and many more. It’s still a bit early, but we can easily see the adaptation going down as one of next year’s most explosive films, and with Mansell now on board to provide the score, our excitement has only risen that much higher.
