Los Angeles is currently playing host to the production of Unicorn Store, the feature film debut of Room breakout Brie Larson, and we now have word of three new additions to the cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford.

Larson, who also stars in the comedy pic, will be directing from an original screenplay penned by Samantha McIntyre, one which centers on “a woman who moves back in with her parents, and she receives an invitation to a store that will test her ideas of what it really means to grow up.” There’s no mention of when Unicorn Store will swing its doors open to the moviegoing masses, nor who Jackson, Cusack and/or Whitford will be playing in the finished product, but we can certainly expect more news to emerge as the project begins to coalesce.

It’s another feather in the cap of Brie Larson, too, who fast became one of the hottest talents in Hollywood after deservedly collecting the Best Actress gong for her captivating turn in Room. Soon, we’ll be able to add directing to her repertoire of skills.

Alas, little is known about the studio’s release plans for Unicorn Store, but today’s casting coup coupled with the fact that the cameras are already rolling in Los Angeles leads us to believe it’ll bow late next year. As for Brie Larson, the so-hot-right-now actress will next be seen as a gun-toting arms dealer in Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, before jetting off with Jackson to Skull Island in a bid to uncover the titular, ancient ape. Further afield, there’s also the long-awaited Captain Marvel movie to look forward to.
