Back when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was shooting, Michael Shannon was constantly generating a stir with comments he made about the movie. From claims about wearing flippers to jokes about playing a ghost, the Man of Steel star has since said very little about what he thought of the finished product.

Well, the floodgates have now opened and Shannon has finally weighed in on Dawn of Justice, a movie which divided fans and drew the ire of film critics.

“People ask me about this all the time. Okay, I’ll tell you the god’s honest truth. Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this – he’s gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep. I know, I know… I was on an international flight and I was tired….I shouldn’t have been watching it on a plane. But I never go to the movies anymore! I don’t have time to see anything. I used to go to the movies all the time when I was 20 years old and wasn’t working 10 days a week.”

Ouch. To be fair, the actor admits to not getting time to watch many movies and was tired during a long flight when he finally had the chance to catch Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even so, this is hardly a glowing review and is yet another knock to a movie Warner Bros. is probably more than ready to put behind them at this stage.

After all, it was not the strong start to the DC Extended Universe that they had hoped for, and while it was far from a flop, it also didn’t deliver the sort of numbers a movie pitting the Dark Knight against the Man of Steel should have. Now, all eyes have turned to Justice League and Wonder Woman, two films many hope will save this still very young shared universe.

Tell us, did Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice put you to sleep as well, or is Shannon being too harsh? Let us know in the comments section.
