Kong isn’t the only monster that roams the ashen hills of Skull Island. Ahead of today’s big, big reveal, Legendary has unleashed a pair of new teasers for Kong: Skull Island and this time, the focus is drawn to a new, reptilian beast that may well pose a monstrous challenge to the title ape.

Emerging from a darkened lake, it’s difficult to get a clear look at the towering behemoth in only four seconds of footage. What’s interesting though is that the anatomy of said creature does bear semblance to the ancient fossil glimpsed in the NYCC poster for Kong: Skull Island which, when placed under a blacklight, unveiled a series of frenzied annotations from William Randa, the mysterious Monarch operative played by John Goodman.

It’s simply speculation for now, but when factoring in the elongated snout and scorpion-like tail, it does present a possible connection between Legendary’s atypical marketing spiel and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ end product.

Without further ado, here’s the latest pair of teasers:

Headed up by Tom Hiddleston and Room breakout Brie Larson, Skull Island features an all-star cast comprised of Samuel L. Jackson, Goodman, Jing Tian, Straight Outta Compton and 24: Legacy star Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and Toby Kebbell.

Kong: Skull Island opens on March 10, 2017. Legendary’s monstrous slate also spans a Godzilla sequel in 2018, followed swiftly by the titanic main event: Godzilla Vs. King Kong in 2020.
