Across five harrowing seasons, she’s wrestled with a crippling bipolar disorder, fallen for an American prisoner of war, and confronted terrorism head-on, but Carrie Mathison’s story isn’t over yet – far from it, in fact. Now that Showtime has already nailed down plans for seasons 7 and 8, fans of all things Homeland can rest assured that the network’s flagship CIA thriller isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

In fact, with the oncoming season 6, Showtime’s procedural looks set to hit closer to home than ever before – and we aren’t just talking about the change of location. With Claire Danes’ world-weary lead back on home soil, the entire sixth season of Homeland is set to take place between Election Day and the inauguration, as Elizabeth Marvel’s President-elect prepares to be sworn into the Oval Office.

It’s a transitional time for the halls of government, then, and after just barely thwarting a massive terrorist attack in Berlin, Carrie will need to bring her ‘A game’ if she’s to navigate Washington’s latest changing of the guard. Guest stars for this season include Hill Harper, Robert Knepper, Patrick Sabongui and Dominic Fumusa.

Homeland returns for a sixth season on January 15. Below, you’ll find Claire Danes’ relentless operative front and center in the very clever season 6 one-sheet.

She has begun working at a foundation whose efforts are to provide aid to Muslims living in the U.S. Season six will tackle the after effects of the U.S. presidential election, with the entire season taking place between election day and the inauguration. It’s a strange, transitional time in the halls of government filled with anxiety and different competing interests, where a very fragile and complex transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect.
