Arrow’s Cody Rhodes Pursuing Black Bolt Role In The Inhumans

If you're into professional wrestling at all, you'll no doubt be familiar with Cody Rhodes. Like so many of his colleagues though, he's also been dabbling in acting, and he recently made an appearance on Arrow this year in the episode titled "A Matter of Trust." Though it wasn't a hugely significant role, at least not as far as the season as a whole goes, it apparently sparked his interest in the profession enough that he's now moved out to Los Angeles in hopes of landing more gigs.

If you’re into professional wrestling at all, you’ll no doubt be familiar with Cody Rhodes. Like so many of his colleagues though, he’s also been dabbling in acting, and he recently made an appearance on Arrow this year in the episode titled “A Matter of Trust.” Though it wasn’t a hugely significant part, at least not as far as the season as a whole goes, it apparently sparked his interest in the profession enough that he’s now moved out to Los Angeles in hopes of landing more gigs.

Talking to Bleeding Cool to promote an upcoming match at Ring of Honor: Final Battle, Rhodes was asked about his time on the DC TV show and quizzed on whether or not he’d be interested in returning to reprise the role, to which he said:

“I would love to,” Rhodes said. “There’s no concrete plans right now. I heard something might be brewing for a future season. What [DC TV producer] Greg Berlanti has done is amazing – he’s made four distinct universes, I think there’s about to be a fifth – with bringing DC to television. I would love to be part of the Arrowverse, Star City, again as Derek Sampson, or even part of something like Legends of Tomorrow. I’m a lifelong comic book reader, and they were very excited about the episode and how it turned out, as was I, so I’d say there’s a good chance.”

Further in the interview, Rhodes revealed that he’s actually a big fan of The Inhumans and in particular, Black Bolt. Not only that, but now that he’s moved to LA, he’s been “actively pursuing” the chance to play the character in Marvel, ABC and IMAX’s upcoming TV show.

“I will fully disclose that I have been actively pursuing a couple of roles, that being one. I now have uprooted, moved to LA, to look into acting more, especially after the Arrow episode. So that would mean the world to me if that were to happen. And we’re actively looking into it. I’m all about it.”

Though fans have been petitioning for Vin Diesel to play Black Bolt for years now, it unfortunately doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. As such, the role is still open and given that we haven’t heard anything on the casting front yet, Rhodes may just get his wish.

That being said, we would be rather surprised if this comes to fruition. For a project as unique and important as The Inhumans, Marvel will likely want someone with a bit more experience to play Black Bolt. We don’t expect them to recruit an A-list star, but definitely someone who can resonate with fans more and bring a strong screen presence to the show.

Hopefully, we’ll start hearing about casting for The Inumans early next year, but until that happens, tell us, who would you like to see play Black Bolt? Sound off down below and let us know!
