Tony Revolori, best known for his standout performances across Dope, YA sci-fi The Fifth Wave and Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, is in contention to take the lead role in Exchanged, a globe-trotting terrorism thriller in the works from writer-director Geoff Haley.

Working from a screenplay co-written with David Chisholm, Exchanged represents a rare opportunity for Haley to take point at the helm, having served as camera operator across Furious 7, Star Trek Beyond and American Hustle. Variety’s report goes on to confirm that Revolori is on the verge of clinching the role of an autistic American high school senior who uproots for Germany as part of a student exchange program – hence the title – only to discover that his newfound family moonlight as terrorists. Paralyzed by fear, Revolori’s protagonist is unable to notify his real parents or indeed the local police about his predicament, and reluctantly agrees to partake in their unruly plan.

Lawrence Steven Meyers, who is attached to produce Exchanged with Randy Dannenberg via Meyers Media Group, lauded praise on Revolori’s dynamic range, which he believes will be critical to anchor Haley’s intense thriller:

“We are excited at the prospect that Tony will be joining our production, as he possesses a certain level of sensitivity needed for this role, besides having a strong and commanding presence, as we have seen in his previous roles,” Meyers said.

No word yet on when Exchanged will be ushered into production, but we’ll keep you posted if and when that status changes. Revolori, meanwhile, is part of the all-star cast Marvel has assembled for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is expected to scurry into theaters on July 7, 2017.
