It was recently revealed that James Franco will make an appearance in Sir Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant. At the time, it was reported that he’ll play the Captain of the ship the film is named after, but that he only has a very small role in the movie itself, with most of his work involving soon to be released viral marketing materials.
During a recent interview to promote the release of his upcoming comedy Why Him?, we asked Franco about starring in Alien: Covenant, and while he couldn’t give anything away (understandably), the actor did confirm his role, making it clear that he’s looking forward to being part of the star studded sequel.
An argument could be made that Franco will be wasted in what sounds like a minor role, but with actors like Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Billy Crudup also making their presence felt, it’s not like Alien: Covenant is exactly short on big names to keep moviegoers glued to the screen when it’s released next May. Of course, they’re not the biggest draw though.
What many fans are really excited about is the return of the Xenomorphs. Prometheus only teased us with them, but this movie looks set to bring them back in a big way if that teaser poster is to be believed. There’s still no sign of the first trailer for Alien: Covenant, but expect it to find its way online sooner rather than later, and when it does, we’ll surely get a better look at the terrifying creature.
