Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star DLC Is Free This Weekend, Double XP Until December 25

If you fancy yourself a merry jaunt around the galaxy this Christmas weekend, look no further - Star Wars Battlefront's Death Star DLC will be entirely free to play from December 23-25, with the promise of double score earnings to sweeten the deal, EA has confirmed (via VG247). As if you needed any more incentive to lead the assault or defence of the fully-armed battle station, just logging in will net you 5000 Credits to spend however you see fit.

Originally released back in September, the Death Star DLC was the first expansion to introduce the multi-stage Battle Station mode, a three-part campaign that sees players engage in spectacle-laden space dogfights before infiltrating the spherical station itself to retrieve valuable data. Assuming the Rebel side has, up to that point, been successful, you’ll then be tasked with reenacting the iconic trench run from the original film.

The free weekend period will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and includes access to all maps and modes included in the add-on. Whether Star Cards and weapons added along with the DLC will be available too remains to be seen, but there’s not long left to wait in order to find out.

To coincide with the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Battlefront‘s Rogue One: Scarif expansion was released earlier this month on all platforms, introducing, along with a new map, the primary protagonist and antagonist from the film – Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic – as playable heroes and villains respectively.

See you on the battlefield!
