Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows Trailer

It has been a busy week for Warner Bros. To start off, one of their biggest franchises is coming to a close with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which will hit theatres this Friday. Lucky for them though, they have two other rather large franchises which they are eager to remind moviegoers about. Both The Dark Knight Rises and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows have been promoted quite heavily over the past week or so.

It all started with news that the new Sherlock Holmes and Dark Knight trailers would be shown with Harry Potter. Then, to ramp up the excitement, Warner Bros. released posters for both The Dark Knight Rises and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows as well as a plot summary and new photos for the latter.

Then, today, we got a trailer description for The Dark Knight Rises and finally, tonight, we get the first full trailer for Guy Ritchie‘s latest film in the Sherlock Holmes series.

Yes, that’s right, the Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows trailer is now available for your viewing pleasures. Does this mean we’ll also be seeing The Dark Knight Rises trailer early? Possibly, I wouldn’t doubt it if we got a look at it before it arrives in theatres this Friday.

As for how Sherlock looks, well it seems quite similar to the first in both style and tone, which was to be expected. While I think it looks a bit better than its predecessor, I still don’t have much faith in the film, for reasons I explained earlier.

To put it briefly, I really didn’t enjoy Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows isn’t too high on my list of films to see. I’ll likely check it out simply because I do generally like Ritchie’s films and am a fan of Downey Jr’s work but I’m not expecting a whole lot.

That being said, both Jarred Harris and Noomi Rapace look their parts and they will likely add a lot to the film. The slow-mo action and daring stuns look rather exciting and Downey Jr.’s charm and charisma is always a joy to watch. So who knows, this may turn out to be alright.

Still, some of the silliness found in the first film looks like it will return here and that can’t be ignored. The stuff with Holmes in drag looks absolutely ridiculous and I also noticed a few more subtle hints at a “more than friends” relationship between Holmes and Watson, which is something that Ritchie drew our attention to in the first film. It felt awkward and out of place in the movie and I hope it’s not as a big of an issue this time around.
