After a phenomenal 2016, it looks like The Chainsmokers are prepped to keep their winning streak going strong in the new year. The duo announced earlier in the week that they will be holding down an exclusive three year residency in Las Vegas, and now their smash hit “Closer” has been nominated for “Song Of The Year” at the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The nomination is merely the latest in a laundry list of achievements that “Closer” already lays claim to, including generating more than a billion views on Vevo, dominating the charts throughout 2016 with twelve weeks on the Hot 100, and surpassing a record originally set by Swedish House Mafia.

“Closer” was easily one of the biggest songs released in 2016, and with the new nomination, The Chainsmokers are primed to continue their musical conquest in 2017. That’s not to say they don’t have their work cut out for them though, going up against stiff competition like Twenty One Pilots, Drake, Justin Timberlake and Sia.

We’ll find out on March 5 if The Chainsmokers win big at the 2017 edition of the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
