Two months out from release, 20th Century Fox is now beginning to enter crunch time in anticipation of Logan, James Mangold’s R-rated threequel that’s all but set to bring the curtain down on Hugh Jackman’s decorated career as the enraged Wolverine.
A new trailer is already in the can – January 16 is the purported due date for that one – and Jackman has taken it upon himself to drum up excitement ahead of schedule. Taking to Instagram, the likable Aussie actor premiered a new action shot for Logan with the caption “Fight or Flight,” this time showcasing the iconic mutant speeding through a woodland area. In this instance, it’s difficult to gauge whether Jackman’s clawed anti-hero is actually the hunter or the hunted, but given his razor-sharp reflexes and superhuman strength, we pity anyone that dares step in his path.
Indeed, thanks to previous promos, we know that Logan‘s collection of antagonists will be headed up by Boyd Holbrook’s band of Reavers, a group of hired guns who’ve trained their crosshairs – both literally and figuratively – on Dafne Keen’s Laura/X-23. She’s the young mutant that forces Wolverine out of his self-imposed exile in the first place, and we’ve seen that Jackman’s grizzled lead will do everything in his power to protect her from the baddies – even if that means cutting down enemies left, right and center.

It’s “mind-blowing and amazing,” according to the Merc With a Mouth himself – heck, Reynolds even tipped Mangold’s threequel for an Oscar nomination – and we’ll finally be able to see what all the fuss is about when Logan bows on March 3, 2017.
