Deadpool massively exceeded expectations when it was released last year, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. With the flick proving to be a worthy take on the Merc with a Mouth, anticipation for the sequel is, understandably, very high.

We know that the follow-up won’t be getting ridiculously bigger in terms of the budget, but you have to believe Fox won’t be cutting the purse strings like they did with the first instalment. The studio hasn’t told us much about what they have planned just yet, but the likes of Cable and Domino have already been confirmed as being on the way. However, along with those new additions will also be some familiar faces.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed in a recent interview that both Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead will be back, but they wouldn’t go into detail about how significant their roles will be. Still, the fact that they’re coming back is very exciting, as Deadpool’s interactions with them in the first film were a lot of fun and a definite highlight.

They’re not only ones who look set to return, either. In a separate chat, the duo confirmed that another of Wade Wilson’s pals will be making their presence felt in the follow-up:

“I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me. I just love that relationship and love that character. And he’ll be in the sequel.”

For those who may not remember, Dopinder was the cab driver who engaged in a very strange battle with a love rival at the behest of Deadpool, so seeing him back for the sequel will hopefully result in more hilarity. It’s worth noting that one character we’ve still yet to hear about is Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa Carlysle, but something tells us she’ll show her face as well once Deadpool 2 rolls around.
