Better Call Saul Season 3 Booked In For April Premiere

It's official: Better Call Saul will return to the airwaves in April and yes, Giancarlo Esposito's glowering Gus Fring is set to feature.

It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? Nipping at the heels of last week’s delightful teaser, AMC has officially confirmed that Better Call Saul will return to the airwaves this April with a familiar face in tow: Giancarlo Esposito’s glowering Gustavo Fring.

Pegged for a premiere on April 10, Better Call Saul season 3 will do good on last year’s enticing teases and ensure Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill crosses paths with the illustrious drug kingpin. Los Pollos Hermanos is also back, and when Esposito was pressed about how his villainous Gus Fring fits into the picture, the actor told budding fans to expect a “more immature” version of the character compared to that seen in Breaking Bad.

Given Better Call Saul is, first and foremost, a prequel series, news that AMC’s spinoff will introduce a more wet-behind-the-ears businessman shouldn’t be all that surprising. If nothing else, that smart promo for Los Pollos Hermanos (see above) showed that Giancarlo Esposito hasn’t lost his knack for stealing scenes, and though the actor anticipates a “very cagey character,” we fully expect Gus Fring to be a formidable force throughout the show’s third season.

Per Uproxx:

“I had to remind myself in coming back to be really present with the character, and that in this time, he’s more immature. He’s still finding his way… So I’m excited to be back. Certainly, Vince has described to me a situation where Gus is a very cagey character… he was a guy who wanted revenge, a guy who wanted to create a business, but he was also a guy who was very caring with his people. So I want to see where we go with it, and sometimes it’s more exciting to have a character who’s more mysterious.”

Jimmy McGill will continue his transition to the illustrious Saul Goodman when Better Call Saul season 3 premieres via AMC on April 10. It’ll make its way across the pond soon thereafter, where UK viewers can expect the network’s spinoff to debut via Netflix.
