Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Toys Provide A First Look At Kurt Russell’s Ego

It was during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con that fans got a first look at the costume which will be worn by Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and while those lucky enough to be in attendance were treated to a few scenes of him in action, we’ve yet to catch so much as a single glimpse of Ego the Living Planet. Until today, that is.

A first look at the character has now been revealed via some Funko merchandise for the film, and it’s clear to see that he doesn’t exactly resemble his comic book counterpart. Of course, that’s something we’ve known would be the case for a while, but it remains to be seen how and if the sequel is going to address his “Living Planet” status. Of course, the simple fact that Ego is Star-Lord’s father in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a game changer, as that’s not the case in the source material, and considering the fact Marvel and director James Gunn jumped through hoops to get the character in the first place, he’ll no doubt make his presence felt in a big way here.

These toys don’t reveal much beyond the fact that Russell will be rocking his awesome beard as Ego, but now that they’re out in the wild, the studio will hopefully reveal some official images shortly. After all, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is Marvel’s first big movie of 2017, so the marketing campaign will surely ramp up sooner rather than later, right?
