The Pirates! Band of Misfits Trailer

To be honest, I hadn't even heard of this film until a couple days ago. It's called The Pirates! Band Of Misfits, although in the UK the subtitle is In an Adventure with Scientists. Aiming for a March 30th, 2012 release date, the film is coming to us from Aardman Animation. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, they're the studio that brought us Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit. They were also responsible for Flushed Away which I really enjoyed.

To be honest, I hadn’t even heard of this film until a couple days ago. It’s called The Pirates! Band Of Misfits, although in the UK the subtitle is In an Adventure with Scientists. Aiming for a March 30th, 2012 release date, the film is coming to us from Aardman Animation. In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, they’re the studio that brought us Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit. They were also responsible for Flushed Away, which I really enjoyed.

Hugh Grant leads a pretty strong cast in what looks like one of 2012’s must see films. I laughed out loud a couple times during the trailer and I really like the animation style used here. The whole thing just looks so fun and inventive that I’d be foolish not to check it out.

Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think.

The Pirates! Band Of Misfits is directed by Peter Lord and stars Hugh Grant, David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Martin Freeman, and Jeremy Piven.

In The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
