Sean Bean Joins Tarsem Singh’s Snow White

In a role that really shouldn't be much of a stretch, actor Sean Bean has signed on to play the king in Tarsem Singh's Snow White. Bean, an actor very familiar with roles of royalty, has played similar parts in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and on HBO's Game of Thrones. Starring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins and Armie Hammer, Singh's untitled Snow White project is currently shooting, aiming for a March 16, 2012 release date.

It’s an appropriate casting choice and one that Bean will do just fine with. The British actor has a few strong credits on his resume and is a solid actor who is for the most part, quite underrated.

Aside from the aforementioned Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings trilogy, Bean has also had notable roles in the James Bond film Goldeneye, The Island and Ronin, among others.

He fits in well with fantasy based films and anything that will give him the chance to swing an axe or wield a sword is something I’d be happy to watch.

Personally, I’m not terribly excited for any of the Snow White films that are currently in production but Hollywood obviously must see something in the classic fairytale. With three films currently gearing up to provide their take on the Brothers Grimm story, it begs the question. Isn’t it a bit much? Does anyone really care to see three Snow White films?
