Doing good on The Rock’s Instagram post, Paramount debuted the bonkers teaser during tonight’s Super Bowl, which briefly steals the spotlight away from New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and the good ol’ pigskin to focus on Mitch and the gang. As his prized stretch of sand is placed under threat by Priyanka Chopra’s greedy oil tycoon, Victoria Leeds, Dwayne Johnson’s hulking hero prepares to stage a revolt against the corporate Powers That Be, and he’s brought along a motley crew to help him.

Rounding out Baywatch‘s roster of talent are Zac Efron (Matt Brody), Alexandra Daddario (Summer), Kelly Rohrbach (C.J.), Ilfenesh Hadera (Stephanie Holden) and Jon Bass as Ronnie, a “funny, awkward and a skilled disco dancer at the beach.” As much as we can’t wait to see how Bass riffs off Paramount’s dysfunctional family, here’s hoping his character isn’t relegated to comic relief and comic relief alone.

Opening against Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Paramount’s Avengers of the Beach will offer up a very different maritime adventure when Baywatch debuts on May 26th. That’s one week later than originally planned, after the studio quietly nudged Mitch Buchannon away from the oncoming Alien: Covenant. Look for that one to slither into theaters on May 19th.

Now that the latest promo is out in the wild, tell us, do you believe Paramount’s franchise revival can hit the dizzying heights of the Jump Street series? Let us know below.
