Adam Sandler Is Sandy Wexler In Bizarre First Trailer For Netflix Dramedy

Adam Sandler dances to an old tune in the bizarre first trailer for Netflix dramedy Sandy Wexler. It'll premiere on Friday, April 14th.

Following up on The Ridiculous Six and wildly over-the-top actioner The Do-Over, Adam Sandler is all set to execute stage three of his four-picture deal with Netflix in the form of Sandy Wexler.

It’ll premiere on April 14th, and in order to generate some semblance of excitement, the online streamer has today rolled out the really rather bizarre first trailer. Unlike The Ridiculous Six (Western) and The Do-Over (action/comedy), Sandy Wexler doesn’t quite know which genre it belongs to. Opening with a shot of Sandler as the bumbling talent manager, the footage above ranges from hammy melodrama to oddball comedy all in the space of two minutes, with cameos from the likes of Chris Rock to Conan O’Brien thrown in for good measure. Can it find an audience in two months’ time? It’s worth remembering that The Do-Over found its way into Netflix’s top 10 in select countries across the globe for long periods of time. Even still, Sandy Wexler looks like a marked dip in quality, even by Sandler’s shrinking standards.

Also starring long-time Sandler partners Kevin James, Terry Crews and Rob Schneider, the official synopsis for Sandy Wexler reads as so:

“Sandy Wexler (Adam Sandler) is a talent manager working in Los Angeles in the 1990s who diligently represents a group of eccentric clients on the fringes of show business. His single-minded devotion is put to the test when he falls in love with his newest client, Courtney Clarke (Academy Award and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson), a tremendously talented singer who he discovers at an amusement park.”

Directed by Steven Brill (The Do-Over) from a script penned by Paul Sado, Dan Bulla and Adam Sandler himself, Sandy Wexler will make a beeline for Netflix on April 14th. But will you be tuning in?
