Let it be known that Steven Soderbergh has tabled talk of his self-imposed retirement – for now, at least – and is back, back, back in time for Logan Lucky, a NASCAR heist drama with a truly star-studded ensemble to match.

In light of today’s news that Bleecker Street is joining forces with Soderbergh’s Fingerprint Releasing to launch Logan Lucky, we now have confirmation that the upcoming romp will screech into theaters on August 18th, 2017. And if that wasn’t enough, today also brings forth our first peek at Daniel Craig and Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) suited, booted, and up to no good.

They’ll be joined by Jump Street stalwart Channing Tatum, and it’s understood both he and Driver will play two brothers – Jimmy (Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Driver) – who set about reversing a family curse during the famous Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte (NC) Motor Speedway. As part of his commitment to injecting a sense of realism into Logan Lucky, we understand Soderbergh shot most of his star-studded heist during the actual race, as well as at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Six real-life NASCAR drivers have cameos in the pic.

In terms of that aforementioned ensemble, Soderbergh’s latest features Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience), Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Dwight Yoakam, Sebastian Stan, David Denman, Macon Blair, Jack Quaid, and Brian Gleeson.

Logan Lucky speeds into theaters on August 18th. Reflecting on the film’s meandering journey to the silver screen, you can find Soderbergh’s statement below, followed by the official logo, which looks an awful lot like the same logo used throughout the Mission: Impossible series.

“This is the result of sixteen years of conversations I’ve had with Dan about creating a new distribution paradigm for star-driven, wide release projects. With LOGAN LUCKY I have the right movie, the right team, and the right partner in Bleecker Street to test some personal theories I’ve accumulated. It’s put-up-or-shut-up time.”
