Baby Groot Features On New Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Poster

It's hard to believe, but we're now only a few months away from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The loveable, ragtag crew of space-faring heroes will soon grace our screens again and excitement is, understandably, quite high. After all, with the first film, Marvel was able to take a bunch of C, maybe even D-list characters and turn them into some of the most popular individuals in their sprawling cinematic universe. Now, with the sequel just around the corner, it looks like the gang's adventures are going to be even bigger and better than what came before.

After all, with the first film, Marvel was able to take a bunch of C, maybe even D-list characters and turn them into some of the most popular individuals in their sprawling cinematic universe. Now, with the sequel just around the corner, it looks like the gang’s adventures are going to be even bigger and better than what came before, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.

One of the highlights of the sequel’s marketing campaign so far has been, without a doubt, Baby Groot. Destined to move boatloads of merchandise for the studio, and work his way into the hearts of audiences everywhere, people just can’t get enough of the character. Marvel and Gunn are well aware of this, too, and have unsurprisingly centered much of their recent promotional material around the little guy. And really, we can’t blame them.

That trend continues today with a brand new international poster, which you can see below. It features Baby Groot having some fun with a match and enough dynamite to blow him to kingdom come. Whether or not this is a scene from the film itself or just something dreamt up for marketing purposes is hard to say, but it’s an amusing piece of art which should put a smile on people’s faces – whether they’ve already fallen in love with the adorable character or not.

So far, all signs point to Gunn’s next effort being a massive hit, which is mighty impressive given what we said above, about the Guardians being D-list heroes before the first film hit theaters. They’re now one of Marvel’s most bankable properties and with another solo outing for them arriving in just a few months and a sure to be sizeable role for the team in Avengers: Infinity War, fans will definitely be getting their fill of Star Lord and co. for the next little while.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters on May 5th. Take a look at the cute new poster below and let us know what you’re looking forward to seeing most from the upcoming sequel by dropping a comment.
