Captain Jack Is Back On New Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Posters

After a swashbuckling new promo for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales landed online during the Super Bowl, it seems that Disney is ready to step up the marketing campaign for the next film in the action/adventure franchise. If we're being completely honest, this is one property that's far past its heyday, but that hasn't stopped the studio from churning out sequels and now, as we get ready to welcome the fifth entry, one's got to wonder: did anyone even ask for another outing for Jack Sparrow?

After a swashbuckling new promo for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales landed online during the Super Bowl, it seems that Disney is ready to step up the marketing campaign for the next film in their action/adventure franchise. If we’re being completely honest, this is one property that’s far past its heyday, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from churning out sequel after sequel and now, as we get ready to welcome the fifth entry, one’s got to wonder: did anyone even ask for another outing for Jack Sparrow?

In Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg’s upcoming flick, Depp’s character will find himself “between the crosshairs of Captain Salazer, a ghastly pirate who breaks free from the Devil’s Triangle – a sort of supernatural prison on the high seas. With an undead army in tow, Javier Bardem’s ruthless and downright grotesque baddie is hellbent on killing every pirate in sight, and up above you’ll see Salazer’s scorched Earth approach take into effect.”

At this point, it’s hard to see too many people actually caring about another Pirates film, but we have no doubt that it’ll still find a way to bring in a healthy sum of money at the box office. As such, the studio’s doing their best to market it and the campaign continues on strong today with three new posters which feature all of the usual suspects. Depp, Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, they’re all present and accounted for. Noticeably absent is Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner, though we’re not sure how large of a role he’ll actually play here.

The last entry in the Pirates series was mediocre at best and an incomprehensible mess at worse, with a muddy plot and action scenes that made your head spin – and not in a good way. Perhaps with some new blood behind the camera this outing will be a bit better, but it’s pretty tough to get excited about Dead Men Tell No Tales at this point. Who knows, though? Maybe the House of Mouse will surprise us all and revive the sinking franchise with this fifth instalment. Time will tell, right?

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales docks into theaters on May 26th, 2017. Check out the new posters up above and let us know if you’ve got any interest in this one by leaving a comment in the usual place.
