The Fate Of The Furious Reportedly Clocks In At An Eye-Watering 160 Minutes

Buckle up, folks, for a new report from Cinemarx claims The Fate of the Furious will run for an eye-watering 160 minutes on April 14th.

Each new entry into Universal’s lucrative Fast and Furious is often advertised to be bigger and bolder than those that came before, but it seems F. Gary Gray’s The Fate of the Furious is quite literally bigger than its predecessors – in terms of running time, at least.

A new report from European outlet Cinemarx – as relayed by Polygon – claims Gray’s action sequel checks in at an eye-watering 160 minutes in length. That would catapult The Fate of the Furious into Silence territory, considering how Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated epic spanned two hours and 41 minutes when it graced theaters late last year. As for how this alleged runtime compares to previous Fast and Furious movies, at just under three hours in length, The Fate of the Furious would go down as the longest movie in the franchise’s history.

The closest competition would be Furious 7, which clocked in at around two hours and 17 minutes back in 2015. Perhaps James Wan’s record-shattering actioner is an unfair comparison though, given how the director and his team were forced to make a series of creative changes to accommodate the sudden death of Paul Walker. Another F&F film that stretched past the two-hour mark was Fast & Furious 6, which proved to be two hours and 13 minutes too long when it screeched into theaters four years ago. But even F&F 6, nor its laughably long runway, can hold a candle to The Fate of the Furious, it seems.

Universal and director F. Gary Gray will officially unveil The Fate of the Furious on April 14th. It’ll herald the beginning of the end for the studio’s flagship franchise, what with a final two movies penciled in for April 19th, 2019 and April 2nd, 2021.
