Not to be outdone by Shane Black and his own crew of monster hunters, Fox has today gathered the star-studded crew of Alien: Covenant for the film’s first official cast photo, while there’s also word of new footage arriving tomorrow, February 22nd, alongside the latest episode of Legion.

Bookended by Katherine Waterston (left) and Prometheus star Michael Fassbender (right), down below you’ll see the likes of Demián Bichir, Amy Seimetz, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride all suited, booted and ready to encounter extraterrestrial lifeforms. As for James Franco, he’s located right in the middle of this ensemble pic.

Draped in a towel and looking a little worse for wear, we know that The Disaster Artist alum climbed on board to play Branson, captain of the Covenant ship and the estranged husband of Waterston’s Ripley-esque Daniels. Could he have been brought out of cryogenic sleep in the vein of Guy Pearce’s old and decrepit Peter Weyland? It’s possible. Going one step further, there’s even been rumors that Pearce will reprise his role for Alien: Covenant, but that’s just conjecture for now.

Also pictured are Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

Alien: Covenant slithers into theaters on May 19th. That’s a lot sooner than expected, given 20th Century Fox had originally slated Ridley Scott’s starry sequel for release in October. Alas, a fall release window proved to be too close to Blade Runner 2049 – another follow-up based on one of Scott’s sci-fi greats – for comfort, and Covenant is now poised to give Baywatch and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales a run for their box office money.

Check back to We Got This Covered tomorrow, February 22nd, when we’ll have full coverage of that new footage for you to peruse. A second, full-length trailer looks to be out of the question, considering Fox’s Twitter feed points to a “sneak peek” at Ridley Scott’s R-rated nightmare. Perhaps we’ll get a glimpse at Covenant‘s first clip then? Time will tell.
