The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Yvonne Strahovski, star of NBC’s Chuck, has entered talks to join the cast of The Predator, Shane Black’s R-rated reboot that officially fired up production in Vancouver earlier in the week.

Negotiations are ongoing, according to THR, but assuming a deal sticks, Strahovski would join the likes of Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Moonlight‘s Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen, Olivia Munn and definitely not Arnold Schwarzenegger – shoehorning his Dutch into the plot would only take audiences out of the experience, according to Holbrook.

In more positive news, the Logan star has hinted that Shane Black is rustling up something “totally different” with The Predator, as the illustrious writer-director looks to relocate the iconic alien onto the streets of suburbia. It’ll feature multiple extraterrestrials, too, leading Holbrook’s Special Forces commando Quinn McKenna to rally a posse of marines to do battle with the invading aliens.

Keegan-Michael Key and Rhodes will each play burly soldiers, while Munn is attached to the part of a scientist deemed instrumental in discovering the monster’s Achilles’ heel. Jacob Tremblay, on the other hand, plays a young boy caught up in the cross-species conflict, and it appears Yvonne Strahovski is negotiating to play Tremblay’s unnamed mother.

Blending horror, science fiction and Western tropes into one nightmarish – and hopefully enjoyable – cinematic cocktail, The Predator is on course to claw its way into theaters both standard and IMAX on February 9th, 2018. Strahovski, meanwhile, has another two projects in the pipeline. One is the Dennis Iliadis-directed He’s Out There, while the other will herald an opportunity to star opposite Blake Lively for All I See is You.
