Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is right around the corner now and that means the marketing campaign is really starting to take off. This week alone we’ve been treated to a new international poster and official image, and now, a pretty awesome theater standee has been spotted, which you can check out below.
As you can see, it gives fans the chance to essentially hang out with the team for photo opportunities, which Marvel Studios is no doubt hoping will take social media by storm. It’s particularly great to see new members like Mantis, Nebula, and Yondu get the spotlight, and it’s fair to say the unique trio definitely fits in with this particular group of A-Holes.
The standee obviously doesn’t reveal anything we don’t already know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but fans of the adorable Baby Groot will no doubt be happy to see that he’s hanging out on Star-Lord’s shoulder in his very cool (and extremely cute) Ravager costume. For once, the adorable little character isn’t stealing the show, as he has been with most of the other marketing material, but still, this is yet another clever piece of promotion for what’s no doubt one of the year’s most anticipated films.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently set to blast into theaters on May 5th and is just one of Marvel’s many efforts arriving this year. It’ll be followed quickly by Spider-Man: Homecoming in July and then this fall, we’ll take a trip back to Asgard for Thor: Ragnarok.
