Star Wars: The Last Jedi Headed For Reshoots Next Month

The word 'reshoots' is enough to strike fear into the heart of any fan, no matter what project it's referring to. As we know all too well, studio meddling and interference has led to some very promising films being completely ruined, and while reshoots aren't always necessarily a bad thing, they do have a tendency to spell trouble. Then again, for big blockbusters, they're fairly standard and in the case of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is scheduled to head back into production next month, we're pretty confident that there's nothing to worry about.

Screen Rant is reporting that Rian Johnson’s film will undergo reshoots in March in Scotland and Ireland. No word yet on how long it will shoot for or how extensive the whole thing will be, but fans are already starting to get a bit concerned given what happened with Rogue One. Granted, the spinoff ultimately turned out alright in the end, but for several months there during the summer, it was plagued with one ugly rumor after another, all painting a very worrying picture.

Given that we haven’t seen anything yet from The Last Jedi, it’s impossible to say what kind of impact these reshoots will have. As mentioned above though, we don’t see any reason to sound the alarm just yet as this is pretty normal for projects of this size. Plus, with Carrie Fisher passing away last year, it’s highly likely that this extra bit of production will just be to address her death and how the franchise will handle the character of Leia moving forward.

Either way, we probably won’t know exactly what’s going on for a while, as Disney isn’t likely to comment on this. With Celebration taking place in April though, we’ll be getting our first look at the film pretty soon and at that point, we might be able to get a better idea of what these reshoots for Star Wars: The Last Jedi involve. Until then, feel free to take to the comments section and let us know your thoughts the matter.
