Deadpool 2: Patrick Stewart Entertains Idea Of Professor X Cameo

During a Twitter Q&A for Logan, Patrick Stewart entertained the idea of Professor X cropping up for a cameo in Deadpool 2.

Throughout the course of production on Logan, Wolverine’s long-anticipated last stand, writer-director James Mangold consistently played down talk of X-Men cameos, in fear that moments of fan service would detract from his melancholic thriller. But that doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of Logan characters cropping up in future movies.

Case in point: Charles Xavier/Professor X, who is brought to life so brilliantly by the great Sir Patrick Stewart. While fielding questions during a recent Logan Q&A, the screen icon entertained the idea of his Professor X swinging by for a cameo role in Deadpool 2. First spotted by ComicBook.com, there’s no question that Stewart is probably just joking around here, but at one point, he turns to co-star Hugh Jackman to ask whether he’s able to pull the strings so Xavier can share the screen with Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth.

With that in mind, take this one with a pinch of salt.

Stewart or McAvoy? These timelines are so confusing. How exactly Professor X would fit into the plot of Deadpool 2 is another question entirely, but at the very least, it seems Patrick Stewart would be game for a cameo.

Still incubating in the early stages of development over at 20th Century Fox, Deadpool 2 is a ways away from release. The rumor mill continues to operate at full tilt, though, and despite claims that Drew Goddard had been drafted in to fine-tune the script, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter just yesterday to clarify that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick remain the “heart of the operation.”

Closer to home, Logan is earmarked for launch on March 3rd, and though it won’t feature a post-credits sequence, Wolverine’s final adventure may well be his best.
