Talking in a recent interview about what’s to come in the two-night event, The Flash executive producer Aaron Helbing promised that Barry Allen’s greatest love will have an important part to play in the crossover, which will allow Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist to show off their Glee skills.

“She plays a pretty key role in the musical episode. The story really centers around Iris. Aside from Barry (Grant Gustin) and Kara (Melissa Benoist), Iris plays a huge role in the musical.”

What will that involve? Well, it could be that the villainous Music Meister kidnaps her, as the original version – who debuted in the Batman: The Brave & The Bold animated series – actually took Black Canary when he first appeared, making this a nice nod to what happened there.

As of right now, the only confirmed cast members who will be singing are Grant Gustin (The Flash), Jesse L. Martin (Detective Joe West), Carlos Valdes (Vibe), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott), John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn) and Victor Garber (Martin Stein). As a result, it doesn’t appear as if Patton will be given the chance to try out her vocals in the crossover.

Regardless, it should still be nice to see Iris step up in a big way here, especially as her days in The Flash might be numbered thanks to Savitar.
