Power Rangers Star Dacre Montgomery Wants A Crossover With The DCEU

Cinematic universes are all the rage these days. It seems like almost every blockbuster coming out of Hollywood is either part of one or trying to start one. Of course, Marvel and DC are leading the way when it comes to this type of thing, but many other franchises are now following suit and with the release of the Power Rangers reboot right around the corner, you've got to wonder if Lionsgate has similar plans.

Cinematic universes are all the rage these days. It seems like almost every blockbuster coming out of Hollywood is either part of one or trying to start one. Of course, Marvel and DC are leading the way when it comes to this type of thing, but many other franchises are now following suit and with the release of the Power Rangers reboot right around the corner, you’ve got to wonder if Lionsgate has similar plans.

It’s no secret that the studio is hoping to churn out a few sequels should the film do well at the box office. In fact, CEO Jon Feltheimer said not too long ago that there could be as many as 5 or 6 more outings for the titular heroes should the numbers justify it. But what about an entire cinematic universe? One which could potentially include spinoffs and even crossovers.

The potential is definitely there, and those who read comics will know that the characters are currently involved with the Justice League. It’s a crossover that’s proving to be quite successful with fans and while the chances of seeing such a thing happen on the big screen are slim, that hasn’t stopped one of the film’s stars from expressing interest in it.

While speaking with We Got This Covered earlier this week to promote Power Rangers, Dacre Montgomery, along with his co-star, Naomi Scott, brought up the former’s desire to see such a thing happen. When asked if Dean Israelite’s upcoming reboot would plant seeds for any kind of spinoff or cinematic universe, here’s how the actors responded.

Dacre Montgomery: Oh definitely with DC. The universes will collide, I think. [Laughs]

Naomi Scott: Oh my gosh, Dacre wants the universes to collide so badly.

Dacre Montgomery: [Laughs] There was this cool thing online recently. It was a mash-up of us and the DC Extended Universe characters on a poster, just like that one [points to a poster in the room]. And we were just running at each other, you know. It’d be really fun, because so many universes are coming together at the moment.

As mentioned above, the chances of actually seeing this ever come to fruition are slim to none, especially with both franchises being so new and not fully established yet. Not to mention that this sort of crossover on the big screen would be nothing short of unprecedented. Having it happen in the comics is one thing, but to pair up the members of the Justice League with the Power Rangers for a live-action feature film, well, that’s another beast entirely.

Still, it’s fun to think about and nice to hear that at least one of the cast members is rooting for it to happen. We’re definitely with Dacre on this, as we think it’d make for a very fun movie, but we just don’t see it ever materializing. At least not in our lifetime.

What do you think, though? Would you be into having the Power Rangers meet up with the Justice League on the big screen? Let us know in the usual place!
