In this week’s episode of The Flash, the team managed to overcome a devastating attack from Gorilla Grodd and his army. Unfortunately, they won’t have too much time to catch their breath, as the self-proclaimed Speed God, Savitar, prepares to return from his exile in the Speed Force.

How that happens remains to be seen, though the promo below points to Kid-Flash being manipulated into helping him return to plague the Scarlet Speedster. That’s a decision which may well spell doom for Iris West after the Flash travelled into the future and witnessed her death at the hands of Savitar.

For more on what to expect from this episode, here’s the official synopsis for “The Wrath of Savitar”:

While training with Barry (Grant Gustin), Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) starts to have visions of Savitar, which he hides from the team. A dangerous secret threatens Barry and Iris’ (Candice Patton) happiness. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Andrew Kreisberg & Andrew Wilder.

The gallery above doesn’t feature any physical appearances from Savitar, though we do get to see him using Julian Albert (the former Dr. Alchemy) as his vessel to no doubt once again threaten the team, something Barry Allen looks none too happy about. How The Fastest Man Alive will overcome the Speed God remains to be seen, but he definitely appears to be the hero’s most formidable foe to date. It’s lucky he has Kid-Flash and Jesse Quick to back him up then, but with both of them absent from that glimpse into the future, it could be that they’re unable to play a role in rescuing Iris.

Does that mean her fate is sealed? We’ll no doubt learn more when The Flash airs next Tuesday.
