Once labeled to be the outliers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians of the Galaxy have fast become household names thanks to James Gunn, which lends the director and his team a greater degree of creative freedom going into the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Marvel’s blockbuster sequel is, at the time of writing, around two months from release, meaning that the studio’s marketing team is beginning to fire on all cylinders to ensure fans are left longing for Star-Lord’s next adventure with bated breath – and judging by the sheer quality of the film’s latest and indeed final trailer, it’s certainly working.

But Chris Pratt’s swashbuckling anti-hero isn’t the only power player of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Not only will Star-Prince Star-Lord be flanked by the usual suspects – namely Gamora, Drax, Rocket and little tiny Baby Groot – but there’s also room in the film’s ranks for Yondu (Michael Rooker), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Ego, the Living Planet (Kurt Russell) and Mantis, who will be brought to life by Pom Klementieff.

Beyond that, there’s also room for Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha, who reportedly courts the Guardians out of hiding after they miraculously saved the day on Xandar. Even with so many trailers and teasers already out in the open, James Gunn and the Marvel team have done a stand-up job of keeping many of the sequel’s pertinent story beats under wraps. Long may that continue.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 slams into theaters on May 5th. If you’ve somehow yet to catch the sequel’s rip-roaring new trailer, we’ve included it below – just bear in mind that the Drax campfire scene from the initial teaser won’t actually feature in the finished product.
