Ubisoft will release two free expansions for The Division in 2017, both of which will focus on PvE content. The news comes by way of an interview between Ubisoft Massive and Game Rant (via VG247), which comes ahead of a stream planned for later today that aims to go into more detail on what players can expect from the shooter for its second year. Both expansions have yet to be named, but the first is due to drop within the next few months, with the second planned for the tail end of this year.

Explaining the decision to give all players some substantial free content, Ubisoft’s Julian Gerighty told the site that “tt’s a philosophy of generosity and rewarding players for spending time in the game and playing and driving them to player-driven activities where they can craft their own unique stories.” For those hopeful that either content drop will expand upon The Division‘s PvP elements, you might have to make do with the suite of features currently available, as the emphasis will be on promoting replayability of PvE content which rewards players for “participation, completion, and competition.”

As for other new features, Gerighty confirms that a new loadout system is in the works, which will allow players to switch between different presets tailored to different combat scenarios, as well as feats, “which will reward players within the game with unique patches and vanity items that shows these players have achieved a certain level of confidence within the game.”

If all of this sounds painfully vague, you’ll want to make sure you catch Ubisoft’s stream later today, which will hopefully provide a more detailed rundown of everything mentioned here. You can find the start times for your region below, but don’t fret too much if you can’t make it – we’ll have all of the new details on hand to share with you as they come.
