Star Wars: The Last Jedi Dubbed The “Perfect Chapter” By Disney CEO; Footage Description Emerges Online

Speaking at Disney's shareholders' meeting, CEO Bob Iger dubbed Star Wars: The Last Jedi the "perfect chapter" in the Skywalker saga.

When the lights go down in Florida’s Orange County Convention Center next month, and Star Wars Celebration 2017 kicks off in earnest, chances are those in attendance will be treated to the first official teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Truth be told, that trailer in question has caused much debate online, with many claiming that Disney would dovetail said promo with the launch of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story back in December. Alas, the arrival of Gareth Edwards’ anthology film proved too soon for the studio’s liking, and though the Mouse House is still playing its cards close to the chest, all signs currently point to a reveal at Star Wars Celebration next month. Adding fuel to that fire today is a new report from Disney’s latest shareholders’ meeting, where CEO Bob Iger touched base on The Last Jedi before unveiling the first reel of footage – presumably the same footage that will no doubt send the Internet into meltdown come April.

Iger then went on to shower praise on Rian Johnson’s sci-fi sequel, deeming it to be the “perfect chapter” in the Skywalker saga. A high-ranking executive drumming up excitement for an upcoming release is nothing new, of course, but a follow-up report from the Los Angeles Times sheds some light on the footage shown. Teasing “epic” and “exotic” locations, there’s also a nice parallel to be drawn between Luke asking Rey, “who are you?” and The Force Awakens teaser, which posed the exact same question to Daisy Ridley’s heroine.

Per Twitter:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is booked in for release on December 15th. It’s the second mainline entry into Disney and Lucasfilm’s rebooted space opera, and the next, seemingly perfect chapter in the Skywalker saga. Further down the road, fans can also look forward to Chris Miller and Phil Lord’s as-yet-untitled Han Solo anthology movie, not to mention the Colin Trevorrow-directed Star Wars: Episode IX.
