Katherine Waterston Prepares To Make First Contact In New Pic For Alien: Covenant

Katherine Waterston steps foot onto a brave new world in the latest pic for Alien: Covenant, while there's also a new featurette of Fassbender's Walter.

Late last year, Katherine Waterston was part of the ensemble cast to feature in Warner’s mystical offshoot, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. A spinoff to the core Harry Potter saga, the David Yates-directed feature went on to collect strong reviews and a healthy box office tally, thereby warranting talk of further installments. But it’s 2017, and the so-hot-right-now Waterston has a very different prequel in her sights.

We are, of course, referring to Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s all-star horror flick designed to pump fresh, acidic blood into the genre-defining franchise. Having enrolled as a member of Covenant’s wonderfully diverse crew, Katherine Waterston is attached to the part of Daniels, a terraforming expert who just may hold a connection to one Ellen Ripley. What we do know for sure is that Waterston’s fearless lead is married to the ship’s original captain, Jacob Branson (James Franco), who was last seen looking a little worse for wear just as the crew raised a glass before entering cryogenic sleep.

Together, they form humanity’s first large-scale colonization mission, one which takes an unexpected detour to answer a distress call (!) on a barren alien world. Equipped with a GoPro and various pieces of sampling equipment, up above you’ll find a new image of Katherine Waterston suited and booted and, frankly, looking a little apprehensive. Meanwhile, there’s also a new featurette designed to spotlight Walter, one of two Weyland synthetic’s brought to life by Michael Fassbender – the other being David, who was last seen in the company of Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw.

Boasting Xenomorphs, Facehuggers, Chestbursters and a peculiar new organism known as the Neomorph – the distant feral cousin to the classic Xenomorph, according to that relentless rumor mill – Alien: Covenant will burst into theaters on May 19th. And yes, it’ll herald one of, if not the goriest entries into the iconic sci-fi franchise to date.
