Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, a remastered version of the 2011 original, isn’t due out for almost another two weeks, but Gearbox Software and People Can Fly have decided to go ahead with rolling out the refurbished shooter’s launch trailer to get you in the mood for a return to the planet Stygia. For the uninitiated, Bulletstorm‘s shtick is that it doesn’t take itself seriously whatsoever, preferring instead to hand players a unique set of tools with which to cause untold amounts of havoc on anything that crosses their path.
Bolstered by a memorable cast of characters, you take on the role of Grayson Hunt, a member of black ops group Dead Echo who, with the rest of your team, is in pursuit of one General Sarrano, the potty-mouthed former commander of the squad who misled you into killing innocent civilians. With revenge on the menu, you’ll have to contend with carnivorous plants and feral tribes to reach the end game, but it’s most definitely the journey rather than the destination that matters most in Bulletstorm.
As was the case with the original, it’s not how many enemies you kill that matters, but how you kill them, with a point-based system in place to recognize the imaginative and gratuitous ways in which you fell your opponents.
Enhanced visuals, improved performance and 4K support for PC and PS4 Pro are included in the spit and polish, as too, is all DLC released for the original. Brand new content, including six Echo maps and the chance to play as the one and only Duke Nukem (pre-order) are crammed in for that added layer of value, so even if you played the original to death, there’s reason to return for another go.
